Sikkim
One of the top most tourist destinations in India, Sikkim is also a politically stable and peaceful place in India. This landlocked state is blessed with some of the most spectacular landscapes, flora and fauna making it a haven for adventure enthusiasts and naturalists. Lying at an elevation of 8,586 meters, the state's highest point is the summit of Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak of the world. Sikkim tourism has lots to offer a discerning traveler. Foreigners here can visit Gangtok, Rumtek, Phodong, Pemayangtse and the Yuksom -Zongri trekking route on the basis of restricted area permits which can be obtained. There are numerous Lakes and Monasteries which make the hill station vibrant and lively.
GANGTOK
Extremely seductive, delightfully rowdy, and shrouded in clouds, Gangtok, the Sikkim capital City, may also provide you with an amazing view of Mt. Kanchenjunga from a distance. Many hikers use the picturesque hill station, which is surrounded by mountains and clouds, as a base to access the Himalayan mountain ranges. If viewed from a cable car, the mesmerising prismatic splendour and the lovely curving hill roads are even more spectacular.
Gangtok, whose name translates to "hilltop," is undoubtedly one of the nation's most stunning high towns. Gangtok is a living, pulsating slice of heaven of the Himalayas with everything in exactly the right amount, from a blending of cultural identities to urbanisation. A living, thriving slice of paradise can be found in the northeast at Gangtok. The third-highest mountain peak in the world, Kanchenjunga, can be seen in stunning detail from there. Like everything around it, Gangtok is surrounded by beautiful natural features, like the Tsomgo Lake, Ban Jhakri Falls, Tashi viewpoint, and many others. Enchey Monastery, Ganesh Tok, Do Drul Chorten Rumtek Monastery, among others, are more sites worth seeing. The Teesta River is one of the top places in North East India for white water rafting.
PELLING
The second most popular tourist destination in Sikkim, after Gangtok, is the lovely town of Pelling in the West district. The place's main attraction is the beautiful view of the Khangchendzonga and the surrounding peaks, which are visible from a distance of 130 kilometres from Gangtok and 10 km from Geyzing, respectively.
Within less than a kilometre of here is the well-known Pemayangste monastery, a popular destination for tourists. Along with acting as a starting point for a number of treks in the area, Pelling also has places for mountain biking, rock climbing, village tours, and meditation. All nature lovers and adventure seekers should spend their vacations in the picturesque village of Pelling.
Pelling, a charming, small town located at a height of 6800 feet, was once covered in a thick, wild forest that was a haven for many native wild animals of the time. Due to its location between Pemayangtse and Sangacholing, two ancient Buddhist monasteries, this ridge eventually grew into the village of Pelling. Pelling is currently one of Sikkim's most popular tourist destinations. Pelling serves as the hub for access to all of West Sikkim's spectacular tourism attractions.
