DARJEELING
Darjeeling is one of the beautiful hill stations in India. Darjeeling, still the “Queen of the Hill” is situated at an altitude of 2134 meters. So far known as the best travel destination in the north east state of India. It has magnificent views of snowcapped Kanchanjanga, valleys of small mountains, beautiful tea gardens, variety of green trees with the beautiful people. Darjeeling is considered as popular flowering land of different variety of flower, like rhododendrans, orhids and magnolia etc. Darjeeling Himalayan Rail (DHR) popularly called “Toy Train” is the another jweal of Darjeeling Town is declared as World Heritage by UNESCO by British Crown in 1981. Darjeeling is surrounded by many beautiful spots like Rock Garden, Nightingale Park, HMI (Himalayan Mountaineering Institute), Tea gardens attached to the town, Rock garden, Beautiful sun rise view from Tiger Hill. Chowrasta is another spot to relax in the evening. SIKKIM:
One of the top most tourist destinations in India, Sikkim is also a politically stable and peaceful place in India. This landlocked state is blessed with some of the most spectacular landscapes, flora and fauna making it a haven for adventure enthusiasts and naturalists. Lying at an elevation of 8,586 meters, the state's highest point is the summit of Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak of the world. Sikkim tourism has lots to offer a discerning traveler. Foreigners here can visit Gangtok, Rumtek, Phodong, Pemayangtse and the Yuksom -Zongri trekking route on the basis of restricted area permits which can be obtained. There are numerous Lakes and Monasteries which make the hill station vibrant and lively.
Package Itenary
Day 1 - SILIGURI TO MIRIK
As you arrive at the Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), prepare yourself for an extraordinary journey, our representative will guide you all the way to Mirik. As you ascend try to relax your mind along the winding roads of the mountain and do not miss out the lush tea gardens.Mirik is a tranquil laid back hill station.The central attraction is a lovely lake also known as Sumendu Lake, surrounded by pine trees and a vast park land. There are several view points from where you can witness the lovely sights of Kangchenjunga snow peaks. Relax your mind at the well known Bokar Monastery surrounded by orange orchards, flower gardens including orchids and more. The lake also offers popular activities like boating, fish feeding, horse riding etc.Spend some quality time with the serene nature at the village and tea gardens.Mirik offers several affordable and mid priced hotels near the lake. Most hotels are located at Krishnanagar.There are several eateries in the area of Mirik Bazaar and in Krishnanagar. You will usually get North Indian and Chinese dishes. There are few other restaurants who offer homemade Bengali foods and also South Indian dishes.If you are a shopping freak, you’re in a right place because Mirik has it’s own floating market where you can grab yourself a couple of gifts and souvenirs. While the Mirik market is the main shopping area where you can see numerous stores selling clothes, bags, shoes, curios etc.
Day 2 - MIRIK TO DARJEELING
After having your breakfast, start driving to Darjeeling, “Queen of the Hills” via Indo-Nepal border – Simana, you can view trek route to Sandukphu & Nepal and a beautiful view of mountains, thick green pine forest and world famous tea garderns. After half an hour drive from Simana another spot is Pashupati Market which is in Nepal, famous for imported clothes and cosmetics from Thailand. And then you will be driving to Darjeeling via Lepcha Jagat- land of Lepchas village (local People)- most visited tourist spot to relax in the cool, greenery forest and ofcourse hills and mountains. Ghoom Railways station declared as world Heritage by UNESCO , Dali Buddhist Monastery one of the oldest Monastery in Darjeeling, Batasia loop from where the toy train passes 360 degree circular track, from Batasia Loop one can get panoramic view of Darjeeling town and Kanchenjunga and other mountains in the back drop. Drop to the hotel, relax and enjoy the world famous tourist spot “DARJEELING”, overnight stay in hotel.
Day 3 - DARJEELING FULL DAY SIHGTSEEN
Early morning start for Tiger Hill (subject to availability of pass) to watch the spectacular sunrise and its amazing effects on the Mt. Kanchendzonga (Worlds 3rd highest peak), Visit Ghoom Monastery and Batashia Loop War Memorial while returning to the Hotel. After breakfast followed by Half day mixed point local sightseeing covering RopeWay, Tenzing rock, Gombu Rock, Padmaja N. Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda. After that visit to the Mall (Chowrasta) along with local Market for City Life. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - DARJEELING TO PELLING
After breakfast drive to Pelling in West Sikkim. The journey runs through the winding road cutting across the valleys, hills, villages and follows the course of Teesta River and then beautiful Rangit River till Legship. Take a refreshing break at the view point near Melli and watch the magnificent confluence of Tista River and Rangit River. Later continue drive to Pelling and check into a hotel, In the second half of the day will visit the legendary lake at Khecheopalri (25 km). The Holy Lake is surrounded by dense forests and is believed to have the power of fulfilling wishes. Thereafter, we will pay a visit to the Kunchenjungha Falls and Rimbi Falls, two magnificent perennial waterfalls on the way. Return to the hotel, In the evening visitor can visit Helipad ground where many traveler comes to see the beauty of the nature, mountain and hills. Pelling a small market place which is also ideal place to the tourist to roam in the evening. Over night stay in hotel.
Day 5 - PELLING TO GANGTOK
After the early breakfast in the hotel our driver will drive you to Gangtok via one of the famous monasteries, the Pemayangtse Monastery. It is the seat of the Nyingma Order of Tibetan Buddhism and was originally a small Lhakhang built by Lhatsun Chempo in the 17th Century. The monastery contains numerous antique idols and objects of worship and is filled with wall paintings and sculptures, Rabdentse Ruins is another archeological site that tells Sikkim’s story of glory. Until 1814 A.D, it was the second capital of Sikkim, established by the Chogyal II. The ruins of Rabdentse Palace are just a walk away from the Pemayangtse Monastery through the dense forest and 15 minutes distance from Pelling. Lunch on the way at the road side hotel, and then heading to Gangtok through windy road and mountains, valley and rivers. Check in the hotel. Take rest and freshen up, in the evening visitors can visit MG marg, the tourist hub of Gangtok. Smoke and vehicle free boulevard square with shops and restaurants lined up on both sides. A great place to siton a bench and feel the carnival like ambience, walk down to Lal Bazar for more shops. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 6 - GANGTOK FULL DAY SIGHTSEEN
Dig into early morning breakfast and go for a sightseeing tour. As per your itinerary, today you will be visiting Tashi view point which is in the heart of Gangtok town, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Flower show, Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, Institute of Tibetology, Dro-dul Chorten, Enchey Monastery & Banjakhri Falls (maximum 6 hours). Dinner and overnight stay at Gangtok hotel.
Day 7 - GANGTOK TO CHANGU LAKE
Kickstart your day with a hearty meal as today is going to be a fun day. According to your pre-decided schedule, you will be visiting Tsomgo Lake (12,400 Feet), a high-altitude lake that is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhist. After spending few minutes at the lake, you will visit the Baba Mandir (13,200 Feet). Dinner and Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 8 - GANGTOK TO SILIGURI
After your tea and breakfast, check out the hotel rooms and the driver will drive through windy roads to your way back to home or at Bagdogra Airport or Njp. This is where your journey with Luneva Expedition will come to an end.
